In response to the alarming rise in kidnappings, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun unveiled the 'Special Intervention Squad' in Abuja. Comprising specially trained mobile police officers, the squad aims for swift responses to security breaches in the Federal Capital Territory.

Emphasizing community policing, the IGP assured that this initiative would extend to neighboring states to tackle the broader insecurity challenge. The move follows public outcry over the recent abduction of six siblings and their father, ending in tragedy.

The IGP's call for intensified efforts aligns with President Bola Tinubu's condemnation of these criminal acts and the commitment to comprehensive measures for youth education and national security.
