The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) took to the streets on Wednesday, staging a protest at the Labour Party (LP) secretariat to denounce the party's upcoming national convention slated for the end of the month.

The NLC's agitation centered around their demand for the removal of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure. According to NLC leaders, Abure's alleged orchestration of a clandestine convention, excluding key stakeholders, triggered the ire of the labor union. This move has pitted Abure against not only the NLC but also the House of Representatives caucus.

Accusations flew as the workers condemned Abure's actions, accusing him of harboring intentions to dismantle the Labour Party. Despite their fervent protests, the NLC members faced resistance from the Nigeria Police Force, denying them access to the party's secretariat.
