In response to the recent call by the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for opposition parties to unite against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the Labour Party (LP) has expressed support for the merger proposal, deeming it a positive step toward restoring democracy. In an exclusive interview, the acting National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, praised Atiku's proposition, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to counter the APC's perceived autocracy.

However, the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has laid out specific conditions for endorsing the merger, stating that they would only consider it if Atiku supports former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso's bid for the presidency in 2027. The NNPP's National Publicity Secretary, Yakubu Shendam, deemed Atiku's call emotional and stressed the necessity of supporting Kwankwaso for the party's interest.
