On the third anniversary of the #EndSARS protests at Lekki Tollgate, Nigerian skitmaker Mr Macaroni, along with other citizens, gathered to commemorate the events of October 20, 2020. This date marks the tragic incident when Nigerian military personnel fired upon peaceful #EndSARS protesters, resulting in fatalities and injuries. The protests had initially been organized to call for an end to police brutality, extrajudicial killings, extortion, and abuse of power, primarily by the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

However, the demonstrations turned violent as some individuals took advantage of the situation, setting fire to police stations and public facilities and engaging in attacks on both law enforcement officers and civilians. The Nigerian government responded by disbanding SARS in response to the public outcry. Despite heavy police presence at the Lekki Tollgate, citizens gathered to pay their respects and reflect on the events that transpired during the #EndSARS protests.

The Lagos State Police Command had previously warned against any form of gathering at the tollgate, but citizens, including Mr Macaroni, decided to gather and remember the events of that fateful day.
