sexual harrasment in nigerian army (1).jpg
A female soldier in the Nigerian Army, who recently exposed sexual harassment by senior officers, has been arrested and transferred from Lagos to Abuja.

The soldier, who did not disclose her identity, raised concerns in a viral video, accusing Col. I.B. Abdulkareem, Col. G.S. Ogor, and Brig. Gen. I.B. Solebo of threatening her life for rejecting their sexual advances.

She detailed oppressive actions, including ejection from her residence, psychiatric hospital confinement, and denial of access to military courses. Allegedly frozen accounts and unpaid salary since February 2023 were also reported.

The soldier, flown to Abuja on Tuesday, had sought intervention from senior officers without success. The army, in response, claims the soldier did not inform relevant bodies before the video release. The case raises issues of harassment and injustice within the military.
