The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) has urged citizens to avoid panic buying as they address fuel queues appearing in parts of Lagos and a few other locations across the country. The NNPC cited a reduction in Depot loadout in Apapa, Lagos, over the past few days as the reason for the queues but assured the public that there is sufficient fuel supply, with reserves to last for at least 30 days. The issue causing the queues has reportedly been addressed.

Fuel shortages and long queues at petrol stations were previously experienced in May after President Bola Tinubu announced the end of fuel subsidies during his inauguration. At the time, the scarcity led to a significant increase in petrol prices, with a liter of petrol costing over N500, up from N184 per liter in Lagos.

The NNPC's statement aims to alleviate concerns about another fuel shortage, emphasizing that the situation will normalize in the coming days. It serves as a reminder for Nigerians to remain patient and not engage in panic buying
