Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom announced on Sunday that the G5 group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will throw their support behind President Bola Tinubu's potential re-election in 2027. This revelation was made at a luncheon hosted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt.

The G5, consisting of five former PDP governors, including Ortom, Wike, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, had previously backed Tinubu over Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections.

Ortom, addressing the gathering, expressed the G5's commitment to supporting Tinubu once again, citing confidence in his ability to address critical national challenges.

The move underscores shifting political alliances as the G5 navigates the evolving landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
