President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Balarabe Lawal as the Minister of Environment during a federal executive council (FEC) meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja. In addition to Lawal, Jamila Bio Ibrahim was also sworn in as the Minister of Youth Development, and Ayodele Olawande as the Minister of State for Youth Development.

Balarabe Lawal previously served as the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government during Nasir el-Rufai's administration, and he has now been redeployed to lead the Ministry of Environment. His responsibilities will include implementing environmental policies, addressing climate change challenges, and overseeing proper waste management practices throughout the country.

The Ministry of Environment plays a crucial role in protecting and conserving Nigeria's natural resources, promoting public awareness of environmental sustainability, and dealing with environmental challenges.

President Tinubu, who inaugurated 45 ministers into his cabinet on August 21, emphasized that the nation faces significant challenges, and these ministers are expected to implement much-needed reforms to address these issues.
