In a display of unwavering integrity, officers from Area K, Marogbo, Lagos State Police Command, undertook a significant operation leading to the arrest of Esther Obiekezie for drug peddling. Esther, also known as Candy, a 42-year-old resident of No 6, Mojirade Street, Ilogbo Lagos, was apprehended on February 6, 2024, at her base where she was found selling the illicit drug ICE. The arrest also yielded a substantial quantity of the substance and uncovered a stash of AK47 live ammunition in her possession.

The commendable act came under the spotlight when two individuals, Akete Esther (43 years old) and Oke Okebalam (49 years old) from Ajamgbadi, Lagos, approached the police station in Ijanikin. They sought the release of Esther Obiekezie, offering a staggering N4 million bribe and pleading for an end to police interference in her illegal drug peddling activities.

In a surprising turn of events, the police officer in charge, SP Rilwan Kasumu, rejected the bribe, seized the cash as evidence, and arrested both individuals for further investigation and prosecution.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, lauded the officer and his team for their principled stance against corruption and criminal activities. This incident sheds light on the interconnected challenges of drug peddling, bribery, and the resilience of law enforcement in Lagos.
