Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, made a compelling plea at the 4th Annual Forum of the Women, Peace, and Security Sector Reference Group 2023 in Abuja. Stressing the pivotal role of empowered women in fostering societal progress and peace, the minister urged Nigerian security agencies to exempt women from paying taxes, declaring, "No woman should be allowed to pay any tax fee."

The forum also witnessed an address by Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who assured attendees of the police force's commitment to gender parity.

The police chief emphasized ongoing efforts to combat gender-based violence and called for collaborative actions across security agencies, government bodies, NGOs, and the media to protect and empower women in alignment with international best practices
