President Mohammadu Buhari has embarked on over 29 foreign trips since he assumed power. This attracted criticisms from the the citizenry who felt the President neglects issues of national importance with his globe-trotting. President Buhari do not only visit these countries and meet with their heads of state and presidents, these Presidents also return the visit. Below is a list of World leaders that have visited President Buhari since he took over power.
1. Benin Republic: President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, August 2 received President Patrice Talon of Benin Republic who came on an official visit to the country at the State House Abuja.
2. Togo: President Muhammadu Buhari received his Togolese Counterpart, Mr Faure Gnassingbe on a courtesy visit at the State House in Abuja. Mr Faure was in Nigeria to the Dangote Refinery at the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lekki, Lagos.
3. Cameroon: President Paul Biya in May 3 visited President Mohammadu Buhari. His visit was to address issues of common interest to Nigeria and Cameroon, that included bilateral and regional cooperation against terrorism, violent extremism and cross-border crimes. Biya was accompanied by his wife Chantal, and other top government officials.
4. France: French President, Francois Hollande was in Nigeria in May 14 for the second Regional Security Summit. He was welcomed by President Buhari at the state house alongside other Ministers. Hollande had earlier hosted the Regional Security Summit in Paris.
4. FIFA: On a 2-day visit to Nigeria, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, in July met with President Mohammadu Buhari at Aso rock Villa. He discussed with the president on how best to develop football in Africa, among other issues.
5. Italy: President Muhammadu Buhari on February 1, 2016, hosted Italian Prime Minister H.E. Matteo Renzi at the state house for an official visit to the country.
6. South Africa: President Buhari received South African President, Jacob Zuma, at the state house on March 8th. Zuma was on a two day state visit to Nigeria.
7. ECOWAS: New President of Ecowas Commission, H.E. Marcel A. De Souza visited Buhari in Statehouse on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
8. Turkey: President Buhari received the President of the Republic of Turkey, Tayyip Erdoğan, at the Statehouse, on March 2, 2016. Erdogan was accompanied by his wife, Emine for the 3-day visit to Nigeria.
9. Germany: German President, Joachim Guak was welcomed to the state house by President Buhari on February 11, 2016.
10. Liberia: President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, February 16, hosted the Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is her country s first ever female president. She visited Nigeria to discuss regional security and cooperation with Nigeria.
11. Sudan: President Muhammadu Buhari received special envoy of President of Sudan Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir in Aso Rock presidential villa in Abuja on July 4, 2016.
