Sixteen of Nigeria's 36 states have signified interest to establish cattle colonies, an initiative of the federal government aimed at resolving the conflicts between Fulani herdsmen and Nigerian farmers.

This is according to Dr. Olukayode Oyedele, Special Assistant to Agriculture Minister, Audu Ogbeh.

He did not reveal which state have agreed to join the initiative but reports say Plateau and Kogi are okay with it.

However Taraba, Benue and Abia states have categorically declared that they should be counted out.
