Sports Minister, Mr. Solomon Dalung yesterday reacted to the denial of visa by Spanish embassy earlier this month.
The Nigeria U-17 female basket ball team qualified in Madagascar for the Spain event but sadly after fulfilling all righteousness of visa requirement, the Spanish embassy denied the athletes and officials visa.
After an investigation Dalung uncovered the 3 reason given by the embassy. They are:
1. Spanish embassy alleged the the letter signed requesting for visa was signed by a dead person.
2. The second reason given was that the list sent was padded and that there was an attempt to smuggle some people and traffic them across the border.
3. The last reason was that it was out of time or it was brought in short notice.
Dalung noted that he federal government has officially launched a protest to both Spanish government and the Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.
