Sports Barcelona president named in Neymar deal scandal

Issues surrounding the deal that brought Neymar to Barcelona in the Summer of 2013 may not have ended as the club's current president, Josep Maria Bartomeu has been fingered as a possible culprit as well.

Former president Sandro Rosell resigned from his post last year after he was found culpable of some irregularities in the Neymar deal.

Bartomeu who was vice president then, and later taking over from Rosell is set to be investigated as there are claims of fraud in the ongoing case.

The Barcelona president will now appear in a court to defend his role in the deal that brought the Brazilian player to Camp Nou.

Barcelona are accused of tax fraud to the tune of €2.8 million, and from the public prosecutor's office, a judge Pablo Ruiz has been encouraged to press charges against Bartomeu and Rosell.

With Bartomeu standing for elections this year, this latest revelation could dent his ambitions leading the club, with Joan Laporta getting set to capitalize.
