The Chairman of Bama Local Government in Borno, Alhaji Baba Shehu, on Monday pledged to provide car gift to any student from the area who secures nine credits in WAEC and NECO examinations.

Shehu made the promise while on a visit to some final year secondary school students from the local government currently writing WAEC and NECO examinations at Government College, Maiduguri.

The state government had reportedly transferred the students to Maiduguri to shield them from repeated attacks in the area by insurgents.

The chairman pledged that any of the students who earned the required grades would receive a Honda Civic salon car.

He said that the visit was also to encourage and motivate the students not to be deterred by the current security challenges in getting to their goals in life.

``My visit is essentially to motivate you, so that you will read well and score high grades in the examinations," he said.

He also gave each of the 360 students money to enable them travel back home after the examinations.

Responding, Malam Babagana Mahmoud, the Principal, Senior Secondary School, Bama, commended the chairman for the gesture and other numerous assistance to the students.
