Despite losing over 37 members in Boko Haram attacks, 13 of them in one day, with another 30 still missing, a ‘civilian JTF’ operating in Borno State has vowed to continue to combat the sect until it is flushed out of the state.
Sanna Mohammed, a survivor who escaped with slight bruises, told SaharaReporters at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital that they were determined in their mission.
He was there to watch over a wounded colleague who was seriously injured in the Benisheik town attack in Kaga LGA.
Speaking in Hausa, Mohammed said, “We will not give up and will continue until we triumph over them. Yes they have killed over 37 of our members now and over 30 people missing, we will not give up. And Allah will help us to win over them.”
He pleaded that the military should back them up fully in all their operations.
“We only have clubs, sticks and knives and other local weapons that are not [the equivalent of] the AK 47 rifles they are operating with. This is the burden we operating with.”
