Sports Croatia Beat Nigeria 2-1; End Eaglets Unbeaten In Two Games

The Golden Eaglets have been condemned to their first defeat by Croatia at the ongoing FIFA U-17 world cup in Chile early on Saturday morning at the Estadio Francisco Sanchez Rumoroso Coquimbo, Chile.

The defending champions surrendered their 1-0 lead in the first half of the game to the Croatians who scored two second half goals to beat Nigeria and advance to the next round of the tournament.

Nigeria top the group with 6 points while Croatia made through to the round of 16 1 point behind Nigeria.

Victor Osimeh opened scoring for the Emmanuel Amunike's boys, who had a perfect start until their defeat to Croatia, who also beat them in Korea in a four-nation tournament last month with the same scoreline.

While Karlo Majic and Dario Basic's goals sealed the knock out stage's ticket for the croatians.

Croatia held on to their lead in the end to become the first Croatian team ever to reach the Round of 16 in the tournament and will now face the runners-up in Group C on Thursday 29 October, while Group A winners Nigeria will wait to see which third-placed team from Groups C, D or E they will come up against in the Round of 16 on Wednesday 28 October.
