D’Banj has come a long way in his ten years in music, and to add to the highlights of his remarkable career, the award-winning music star is preparing to release his brand new single and video for the song “Bother You” – which is the official soundtrack for the hit movie Half of a Yellow Sun.
Avid book readers would recognize that the movie “Half of a Yellow Sun” is an adaptation of best-selling author Chimamanda Adichie’s novel. It is directed by Biyi Bandele.
The movie synopsis reveals the story of two sisters Olanna and Kainene during the Biafran war and the effect it had on their lives and on everyone else in the story.
Half of a Yellow Sun has since premiered last year in Toronto (at the Toronto Film Festival) features Chiwetel Ejiofor (Oscar nominee and British Independent Film Awards Winner), Genevieve Nnaji (Africa Movie Award winner), Thandie Newton (BAFTA award winner), Onyeka Onwenu (Judge of Nigeria’s X Factor, legendary musician and African Movie Academy Awards winner), Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Gemini Awards nominee), O.C Ukeje (African Movie Academy Awards Winner) amongst others. The movie is scheduled for worldwide release in March, 2014.
D’Banj is also co-executive producer for the soundtrack album of the movie along with Yewande Sadiku.
