Metro Doctors in court for scamming breast cancer patient in Osun State

Three medical practitioners on Monday appeared before an Osogbo Magistrates' Court and charged with defrauding a cancer patient of N400,000.

The doctors persons were Amoo Ganiyu, 60, Ameachi Moses, 56, and Johnson Neiddle, 35, allegedly conspired and collected the money from Shakiratu Raji, purporting that they would cure her.

The Police Prosecutor, DSP Promise Akanwa, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Sept. 22, at Ayetoro Area of Osogbo.

Akanwa said the accused persons assured the complainant that they would cure her breast cancer within seven days.

He said the offence contravened Section 516, 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, granted bail to the accused persons in the sum of N200, 000 and with two sureties each in like sum.

Aluko said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, have evidence of tax payment and depose to affidavit of means.

The Magistrate adjourned the case to Jan. 10 for mention.
