Euro 2016 hosts France have defeated Germany 2 - 0 courtesy of two goals from Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann put France ahead from the spot towards the end of the first half after Scheweinsteiger handled the ball.

Germany dominated possession thereafter, keeping the French in their own half for much of the next half hour before Griezmann struck again, in the 72nd minute.

Germany's Joshua Kimmich touched the ball poorly in his own penalty area, allowing Paul Pogba to dive in and whip a cross which Manuel Neuer uncharacteristically flapped at it, allowing Griezmann to toe it in through his legs.

The goal takes Griezmann's tally for the tournament to six.

France will now face Portugal in the final of the competition on the 10th of July, 2016.
