It is the fourth consecutive semifinal qualification for the Germans who have now made to this stage of the World Cup since Korea/Japan in 2002.
Coach Joachim Low's team was the better side in the game and France showed timidity when the game commenced.
Surprisingly the first real chance of the game fell to France,Karim Benzema was afforded a good chance to score but he could only side-foot and missed a good chance to give his side the lead.
But then in the 13th minute,a header by Mats Hummels gave the Germans the lead in the game after the Borussia Dortmund defender rose higher than Raphael Varane to head in a free-kick from Toni Kroos.
Germany was the more confident team after the goal but France almost leveled through Mathieu Valbuena who forced Manuel Neuer to make a good save.
Bastian Schweinsteiger was lucky not to have given away a penalty after a foul on Antoine Griezmann,with the French team getting stronger and pushing for a goal.
But the real chances fell to Germany who looked threatening each time they were on the break.
Andre Schurrle came close on two occasions but he could not apply the needed finish to beat Hugo Llrois in goal.
Benzema did have a chance to score in stoppage time but Neuer once again proved his value,standing firm in his near post and punching out a shot from the Real Madrid man.
Germany with the win has become the first team to make the last four of the tournament in Brazil,making it the 13th time they are getting to this stage of the the World Cup.
