Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, has flayed reports in the media and on the Internet alleging his plan to kill governorship aspirants. He described the report as another smear campaign by his traducers.
Reacting through his Chief Press Secretary, Pastor Anietie Ukpe, Akpabio expressed shock at the comments allegedly made by the Nigeria Ambassador to Russia, Chief Assam Assam SAN, in a letter to the Secretary to Government, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and published in newspapers and the Internet.
Akpabio proverbially cautioned his political sons with a rebellious spirit not to seek the destruction of their father in order to achieve their ambition like Absalom tried to. He said it was regrettable that Chief Assam would resort to a deliberate misrepresentation of his comments during the ground breaking ceremony for the Permanent PDP Secretariat, insisting that he did so out of mischief and to shed crocodile tears and curry public sympathy.
