Kaduna state's Governor Nasir El Rufai has ordered the arrest of Ibrahim Musa, spokesman of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, for associating himself with the association.

The IMN, otherwise known as a community of Shi'ite Muslims had been outlawed in the state by the Governor last week. The Kaduna state government had banned its activities, saying it compromises security in the state.

Following the announcement, Mr. Musa had stated that the body would seek redress in court.

“A few hours after the ban, the said Ibrahim Musa admitted to membership of an unlawful society and identified himself as its spokesman in widely publicised statements," the Kaduna government said in a statement.

“This is deemed as a deliberate and determined affront to the order, and the law has to take its course.

“The commissioner of police has been directed to ensure the arrest to enable prompt prosecution.”
