Politics Kano Releases 370 inmates, Spends Over N12 Million on Prison Upkeep

Kano State Commissioner for Justice, Alhaji Maliki Kuliya announced today that the Kano State had pardoned 370 prisoners over a period of two years. The prisoners were released after the state’s Committee on Prerogative of Mercy recommended their release to government. Most of them were set free due to either ill health or old age.

He also said that the government had spent over N12 million on the purchase and distribution of some facilities in different prisons in the state.

According to him, the state government purchased and distributed 65 computers and printers to various courts and also provided some needed utensils to prisoners to improve their living condition.

Kuliya added that the government also promoted 950 junior workers.
