Sports Keshi's arrogance will make him fail- Segun Oguns

A former Nigerian international, Segun Oguns has said that Stephen Keshi's autocratic character will lead to his failure as manager of the Super Eagles.

Oguns warned that Keshi should be mindful of his pride as it could be his greatest undoing with the Super Eagles.

Keshi's men lies third on the table with one point, with DR Congo leading with six points and South Africa- four points.

"Keshi still treats his Super Eagles' job, assistants, players and employer, the NFF, the same manner he treated his colleagues in his playing days. He is arrogant, domineering and overbearing.

"No coach in the modern world succeeds with any of such outdated and slavish characteristics.

"Keshi must come down from his ego to play the role of a father to the assistants and players, he must listen to all and see them as partners not as mere tools that could be used and discarded at will.

"Unless he changes his attitude he'll be a huge failure if he is eventually re-engaged by the NFF.

"The sign of the failure to come is already there for everyone to see or how do you explain the difficult position we have found ourselves on the Afcon group table where we are placed third on one point behind Congo and South Africa on six and four points respectively after two rounds of matches," said the former Sunshine Stars goalkeeper coach to supersport.com.

He however expressed optimism that Nigeria will turn the qualifiers around, adding that Keshi should learn from his past mistakes.

"We're in a difficult position qualifying for the Nations Cup in Morocco but it's not a hopeless situation.

"It depends on our attitude to games as well as whether Keshi has learnt to prosecute future matches with the best legs irrespective of the fact that the faces are like-able or not.

"The truth is that Keshi has not used the best players in the past and that partly explains the position we have found ourselves in at the moment," said Oguns.
