Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has declared a total war on the kidnappers and cultists that have laid siege on the state.
The Governor’s decision was contained in a statement on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr Abdulkarim Abdullahi.
The Governor’s declaration followed the abduction of the traditional ruler of Elete community, Aminu Ahmed Aku, in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the state in northern Nigeria by yet to be identified persons.
Governor Bello vowed to ensure that those behind the recent immoral acts were fished out and made to face the full weight of the law.
He said the kidnap of the monarch ranked among the high profile cases of such acts in a very short time.
The state has recorded in the last few months some kidnapping cases in which some victims are still under the custody of the kidnappers who are demanding for ransom before they are released.
