The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Saturday conducted the rerun of the Bayelsa governorship elections. INEC had declared the election inconclusive after violence were reported in South Ijaw LGA and other areas. Here are 3 good things about the election:
The commission still had issues with punctuality as some election officers were late to their polling units due to transportation problems.
- INEC's card readers functioned optimally
- INEC's change in voting procedure - accreditation and voting were done simultaneously. This helped in moving the voting process along briskly.
- Good security. The election went smoothly in most areas as there were less reports of ballot snatching.
