Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba, has taken a swipe at the state governors for their unhealthy interference in the internal operations of the political parties, especially the process of choosing candidates for elective positions in the country.

Na’Abba, who spoke in an interview with THISDAY in Abuja, cautioned aganists the possibility of the governors truncating the outcome of the National Conference if nothing was done to whittle down their influence on the affairs of the country.

“In the last two years, the institution through which leadership emerges has been bastardised by our governors through their undue control of our political parties. “They decide who contest anything. They do not allow internal democracy to be practiced,” he said.
