Sports NFF's problems affecting the Super Eagles - Christain Chukwu

Christain Chukwu has blamed the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) for the travails of the Super Eagles in the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria are currently struggling in the qualifiers, lying in third position behind Congo and South Africa.

Chukwu believes that the crises that rocked the NFF and the forthcoming elections have indirectly impeded the team.

“It is only when a new NFF board is in place that the technical committee can be constituted. If it had been on the ground, it would have made inputs in the selection of players and the preparation for the matches. We’re very concerned with the team’s unimpressive performance,” Chukwu told The Punch.

The Super Eagles have just one point after two matches, but Chukwu still sees the team turning it around.

“Sudan lost (3-0) to South Africa at home and also lost (2-0) to Congo on away soil (Point Noire). It will be terrible if we lose to them. Sudan have appeared to be the whipping team but that doesn’t mean they are the weakest side in the group; we should not take them for granted.

“My advice is that the players should arrive on time for the game. The early arrival will allow Keshi to assess the players if they have time for at least seven training sessions.

“I believe we have a team already following our performance at the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and the World Cup in Brazil. So, it shouldn’t be a problem to decide which of the players to settle for.”
