Nigeria- According to Prof. Wale Oke, the Chief Medical Director, the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), said on Friday that it had put measures in place to guard against a recurrence of the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak.

Speaking with newsmen on Friday, he said the danger had not been fully averted as there was still risk of cross-border transmission from the high risk countries such as Liberia and Sierra Leone.

``Not only did we completely eradicate the disease in Nigeria, we actually were able to save a lot more people that would have died.

``Consequent upon this fact, the hospital, through its emergency committee, has put modalities in place as a form of proactive response to unprecedented epidemic of the Ebola Virus Disease, popularly known as EVD.

``We have eradicated it, but the chances of another Sawyer coming in should not be over looked.

``So, LASUTH has put up structures in place to combat any possible epidemic and this also cuts across the State-owned hospitals.

``And what the commissioner told us was: we must make sure that we have our antenna, our alarm button up so that we can safely manage if another one comes in.``

The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Oct.20 made a declaration that Nigeria had contained the virus and was Ebola-free.
