Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has explained why he ordered a sit-at-home protest instead of a road march for the remembrance of those who died during the Nigeria-Biafra civil war in 1967.

According to a Naij Exclusive, Kanu said, “We called for sit-at-home because it is far much easier to gauge response to the order than with a street march. ''

It is easier because when you say come out to the streets, it is practically assumed that everyone you see on the streets are predominantly IPOB members.”

But if you say sit-at-home, you issue an order for people to comply with and there is the level of compliance that we have, that means that even the sentiment that you are echoing resonates among all the people,” Kanu said.

The IPOB leader however said that he was not not ruling out street protests in the future.
