The Presidential Election Petitions Court has ruled against the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating that they did not provide specific details on how they garnered the majority of lawful votes in the February 25 presidential election.

In the judgment delivered by Justice Abba Bello Mohammed, the court pointed out that the LP had made general allegations of irregularities, vote suppression, and corrupt practices that purportedly deprived them of their votes, particularly in states such as Rivers, Benue, Lagos, Taraba, Imo, and Osun. However, they failed to pinpoint the exact polling units where these issues occurred.

Furthermore, Justice Mohammed stated that the LP did not substantiate their claims of overvoting by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the corresponding reduction in their own votes.

This verdict is a setback for Peter Obi and the LP, as their petition challenging the election results appears to lack the necessary specificity and evidence to support their claims of electoral irregularities. The court's decision emphasizes the importance of providing concrete and verifiable evidence when challenging election results in Nigeria's legal system
