A 50-year-old man, Joseph Sunday, has been arrested for raping a 13-year -old girl in Ilaro, Ogun state.
Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Sunday ambushed the girl as she went to fetch water, dragged her to an uncompleted building, and raped her.
He said Sunday was arrested after the girl’s mother filed a complaint, and that he had owned up to the crime.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal investigation and intelligence Department for further investigation.
