Sports People criticise Balotelli because he is famous - Obafemi Martins

Nigerian international Obafemi Martins has leapt to the defence of Mario Balotelli over the constant criticisms he gets, adding that he is just a victim of his own popularity.

Martins who last month announced his retirement from international football, said that Balotelli is often being haunted because he is famous.

The Liverpool player is struggling to adapt to his new club, and has found the net just twice in all competitions for the Reds, with many already dubbing him as a flop.

Responding to questions why Balotelli always gets himself in trouble,Martins said: "Why he gets into trouble? Because even if he did nothing wrong, when you are famous like him, you end up always being criticised,’’ the Seattle Sounders striker told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He is great and should be left alone. When he does something, just everything is magnified . He is a good boy, certainly not a bad person.’’

Martins is currently in a relationship with Balotelli's sister, and they recently just had a baby together.
