Real Madrid and their neighbors, Atletico Madrid have progressed to the Semi Final of the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo gave a heroic performance for Real Madrid to get past Bayern Munich while Atletico's early goal made things hard for a spirited Leicester City.

Real Madrid Drown Bayern Munich

Real Madrid went into the tie with two away goals advantage but were stunned when they discovered they were trailing by two goals to one after 90 minutes.

Bayern led when Robert Lewandowski confidently drilled in a penalty as Madrid couldn't find their rhythm at the Bernabeu. Ronaldo then headed in a cross from Casemiro.

Thirty-six seconds later Bayern replied, forcing Sergio Ramos to score an own goal, a goal which will force the game into extra time.

Arturo Vidal was then harshly sent off for a sliding tackle on Marco Asensio.

However in extra time, Bayern crumbled. Ronaldo fired in his second goal and moments latter tapped in Madrid's third, which was his 100th Champions league goal- after Marcelo's marauding run. Marco Asensio sealing victory by firing into the bottom corner.

Madrid won the second tie 4-2 which resulted in a 6-3 aggregate.

Atletico Block a Spirited Leicester City

In the other match of the day, Atletico Madrid stopped a spirited Leicester City side from causing them any damage in England.

Atletico went into the tie following a 1-0 win in Madrid and made things harder for Leicester when they scored in the first half via a Saul Niguez's 26th-minute header.

Leicester dominated for large periods but couldn't create enough chances to find the back of the net.

Needing three goals after the first half, they responded well in the second half and equalized when Jamie Vardy scored at the far post just after the hour.

They kept battling until the end as Atletico survived several scrambles, but the La Liga superpower held on and the Premier League's interest in the tournament ended.

On aggregate, Atletico won 2-1.
