Metro SARS arrests 2 for armed robbery, car-snatching in Enugu

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the police in Enugu have arrested two suspects for armed robbery and car-snatching.

A statement from the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Enugu State command of the police, Mr Ebere Amaraizu alleged on Friday that the two suspects belonged to a syndicate that had terrorised Trans Ekulu in the coal city.

The statement added that the police had commenced investigation into the activities of the suspects, one of who was arrested on Dec. 25.

It said their arrest followed intelligence reports about their activities in Phase Six, Trans Ekulu Enugu.

The image maker said that one of the suspects had told the police that they attacked some residents of the area on Dec. 20.

One the items recovered from the suspects, according to the statement, is a Toyota Camry with registration number LSR 205 CF suspected to be stolen.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Adamu Abubakar, has commended the operatives for their timely response to the war against crime in the state.

He also praised members of the public for supplying the police with useful information in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.

Abubakar, whose commendation is also contained in the statement, said the command would provide functional security to the state, before, during and after the festive periods.

He said the police had put some strategies in place to make Enugu and its environs safe and secured.
