A woman, who allegedly poured hot groundnut oil on her neighbour, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a charge of inflicting grievous harm.
The woman, Maureen Eburo, 30, was charged by the police with assaulting Mrs Afusatu Adeleke, who shared the same kitchen with her.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Bosede Adegeshin, told the court that Eburo, who resides at No. 5, Bode Elewuro St., Igbogbo Ikorodu, Lagos, committed the offence on May 21 at her residence.
She said that the crime followed a disagreement which occurred when the accused entered the kitchen to spray an insecticide as the neighbour was frying plantain.
``The complainant warned her to stop spraying the insecticide because it could be poisonous to her food.
``Eburo carried the frying pan filled with hot groundnut oil and poured it on Adeleke,’’ the prosecutor said.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr B.A. Sonuga, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
