The United States and United Kingdom have warned their citizens to avoid Abuja as it is a target for terror attacks during the last days of the year. They advised their citizens to avoid crowded areas and other areas that are targets for terrorists.

Both countries had issued a similar statement at the beginning of the month ahead of the Id El Maluud holiday. It was assumed that the threat was over after then until the latest announcement.

The two missions in their recent security advice also cautioned their citizens against all but essential travels to Bauchi, Zamfara, Kano; Kaduna; Jigawa; Katsina, Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, and Yobe states during the Yuletide.

In response, Nigerian security forces have deployed undercover detectives to foil attacks as well as raiding areas suspected to harbor Boko Haram spies.
