Sports We can't force Keshi to stay back with the Super Eagles - NFF

Umeh.JPG Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) Mike Umeh has revealed that they would want to retain the services of Stephen Keshi as coach of the Super Eagles.

However Umeh admitted that they cannot keep Keshi against his wish to stop coaching the national team.

“Nobody will like to lose a winning team, you always keep a winning team at any cost, but when you cannot hold him, what do we do? Do we cut our heads off because he wants to leave?" Umeh told 365footballnews.com

"So we want to keep him, we want him to work, he’s a Nigerian, he played for Nigeria, he was once a captain and he knows Nigeria is the biggest country in Africa, he knows Nigeria is so passionate with Football, Keshi’s name is a household name in Nigeria.” Umeh added.

It is still unclear over the position of Keshi with the Super Eagles team after the 52-year old admitted that he is on the move as his contract has not been renewed by the NFF.

It is understood that a ready-made contract has been lined up for Keshi by the South African Football Federation(SAFA) who are eager to make him their new manager.
