Ibrahim Magu is set to appear before the Nigerian senate today for confirmation as EFCC Chairman.
Magu was previously rejected by the Senate after a DSS report implicated him for some wrongdoing. However, President Muhammadu Buhari has re-nominated him for the position in a letter sent to the Senate on Sunday night.
According to a Leadership report, credible sources say Buhari’s re-nomination of Magu as EFCC boss was hinged on the fact that he has been cleared by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN), who was asked to investigate the DSS allegations.
It was further gathered that the acting President Yemi Osinbajo did a due diligence on the AGF’s report on Magu and was said to have also found out that the acting EFCC chairman has no case to answer.
