Sports Wimbledon Open: Kvitova and Wozniacki through,Li Na and Venus Williams out

The first major upset has been recorded at the Wimbledon Open in the Women's draw with Chinese player Li Na knocked out of the tournament.

Na, was outlasted by her Czech Republic opponent Barbora Strycova who needed two tie breaks to beat her 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-5).

Strycova will now play against Danish star Caroline Wozniacki in the next round on Sunday. Wozniacki secured her berth in the next round after beating Croatia's Ana Konjuh 6-3 6-0 .

In a keenly contested game,former champion Petra Kvitova defeated another former champion Venus Williams 5-7 7-6 (7-2) 7-5 to progress to the next round of the competition.

Meanwhile in the Men's draw,men's world number two Novak Djokovic overcame an injury scare to beat Gilles Simon 6-4 6-2 6-4.

Jerzy Janowicz fought hard to defeat former champion Lleyton Hewitt 7-5 6-4 6-7 (7-9) 4-6 6-3
