Sports Tennis: Four Nigerian players qualify for the quarter-finals of the ITF Championship

Four Nigerian players have qualified for the quarter-finals of the ongoing International Tennis Federation West & Central Africa Circuit.

The tour moved from Lome,Togo where Nigeria was dominant last week and is now taking place in Benin Republic.

On Wednesday,Nigeria’s Ikechukwu Iloputa defeated Thailand’s Palaphoom Kovapitukted in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

Iloputa will now come up against his compatriot Mohammed Mohammed who equally secured a straight sets win over Connor Yao of Ivory Coast whom he won 6-3, 6-2.

The other Nigerian in the running for a place in the last four is favourite,Joseph Ubon who had no difficulty dispatching his compatriot Tochukwu Eze 6-1, 6-2.

Meanwhile in the girl's category, Nigeria’s Elizabeth Garos-Pam beat her Ghanian opponent,Francisca Nyarko of Ghana 6-2, 6-4 to go through .

With the doubles event starting today,Nigeria will be hoping to carry over their impressive form into it to challenge for honours.
