Nigerian football stars Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, and William Troost-Ekong have been given the green light to continue their AFCON journey, having emerged clean from an anti-doping test conducted during the ongoing tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.

The Guardian reports that the thorough examination revealed no presence of prohibited substances, clearing the trio to play a crucial role in the upcoming quarter-final clash against Angola on Friday.

CAF's stringent anti-doping measures, in adherence to COVID-19 protocols, involve the mandatory collection of samples by the football body's Doping Control Officer.

While two players from each team are typically tested after each match, the Officer has the authority to select additional players for sample collection using targeted or random methods.

These players must provide urine and blood samples as requested. As the Super Eagles gear up for their first-ever AFCON encounter with Angola, the clean chit for Osimhen, Simon, and Troost-Ekong sets an optimistic tone for Nigeria's campaign in the tournament.
