Airtel Africa has disclosed the retirement of its CEO, Segun Ogunsanya, and the appointment of Sunil Taldar as his successor. The transition is set to take effect on July 1, 2024.

Taldar, who joined Airtel Africa in October 2023 as the Director of Transformation, brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as Director of Market Operations at Bharti Airtel. Ogunsanya, after his tenure as CEO, will assume the role of inaugural Chair of Airtel Africa's Charitable Foundation, operating independently.

The Chairman of Airtel Africa, Sunil Bharti Mittal, expressed gratitude for Ogunsanya's contributions and welcomed Taldar's appointment, citing his industry experience and strategic vision. Ogunsanya, reflecting on his over 12-year career at Airtel Africa, emphasized a renewed focus on digital and financial inclusion beyond traditional corporate boundaries.

The leadership transition is expected to be seamless, ensuring continuity and strategic growth for Airtel Africa.
