The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has issued a final warning to Arise Television, citing concerns over the use of derogatory and incendiary remarks in its programs. The warning, dated October 6, 2023, and signed by NBC’s Director-General, Dr. Balarabe Ilelah, urged the TV station to implement a delay mechanism to prevent undesirable content.

This latest warning comes eight months after Arise TV was fined N2 million for breaching Nigeria's broadcasting codes. In the letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of Arise Global Media Limited, the warning emphasized the broadcaster's responsibility to manage its guests and content.

The specific program under scrutiny was Arise TV's morning show on October 5, which featured guests Dele Farotimi and Oladokun Hassan. The Commission noted "unguarded incendiary remarks" by Dele Farotimi against the Legislature, Executive, Judiciary, and the President.

Arise TV was also accused of failing in its responsibility during the Newsday program, where Kenneth Okonkwo, the Spokesperson of the Labour Party, used derogatory remarks on air.

The NBC cited several broadcast codes violated by Arise TV and advised them to install a delay mechanism to prevent undesirable content
