In a recent episode of Celebrity Quickies on comedian AY's YouTube page, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) 'PepperDem' winner, Mercy Eke, bared her soul about her unexpected loss in the All-Stars edition of the reality TV show. Despite emerging as the runner-up in 2023, Mercy disclosed that she faced an unforeseen obstacle – an apparent allergy to winners.

The 2023 All-Stars edition was clinched by Ilebaye, leaving fans and followers astonished at Mercy's second-place finish. In her candid revelation, Mercy spoke about the challenges she encountered during the season, shedding light on the public's perception of her as a previous winner.

According to Mercy, the atmosphere was markedly different during her first stint in the Big Brother House, where she secured victory with charm and strategy. However, returning for the All-Stars edition exposed her to a less receptive audience.

"The first time, I went into the Big Brother House, it was all cute, lovely people. I played the game and I won the show. And I thought it was all cute," Mercy shared during the interview. "Then I went back for the second time, and I found out that people were allergic to winners."

She continued, detailing the sentiments she encountered: "They were like, ‘She had that, she can’t have it again. She has this, she can’t have it again.’ That’s why I did not win for the second time because they are allergic to winners. They were like, ‘She is already rich, give others a chance.’”

Despite the unexpected setback, Mercy reflected on the second experience with gratitude. She acknowledged the valuable lessons learned and the unveiling of people's true colors. "This second experience, I loved it. I will not even take anything away from it because it made me see people for who they truly are," she remarked.

In a quote from the interview, Mercy emphasized, "It can only be God’s doing because, without this second experience, I would not know a lot of things. I didn’t know that it was a crime to want to win again. But anyways, I am still a winner."

Mercy Eke's revelation provides a fascinating glimpse into the dynamics of fame, success, and public perception within the competitive realm of reality television.
