The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Morocco as the host for the 2025 AFCON (African Cup of Nations), while a joint bid from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania has been awarded the rights to host the 2027 AFCON. Morocco secured the hosting rights with 22 votes, as Algeria, Zambia, and a joint bid by Nigeria and Benin Republic withdrew from the running before the voting.

During the Executive Committee meeting at the Cairo Marriott Hotel in Egypt, CAF confirmed Morocco and the East African trio as hosts for the 2025 and 2027 editions, respectively. Notably, a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin Republic did not make the final cut.

Morocco will be hosting the AFCON for the second time, having previously done so in 1988. On the other hand, this marks the first time that Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will co-host the prestigious tournament.

These decisions highlight the continued growth of African football and the willingness of different nations to come together to celebrate the sport. Morocco and the East African countries are expected to make the upcoming AFCON tournaments memorable events for fans and players alike
