In a horrifying incident, at least 150 individuals, including women and children, were abducted, and one person killed in a coordinated attack by gunmen on four villages in Zamfara State. The assailants, on dozens of motorcycles, stormed Mutunji, Kwanar-Dutse, Sabon-Garin Mahuta, and Unguwar Kawo in the Maru Local Government Area, leaving a trail of chaos and fear.

According to witnesses, Lawali Damana, the leader of the gunmen, demanded N100 million as retribution after Nigerian troops killed four of his men earlier. The abduction spree has further intensified the already prevalent issue of kidnapping for ransom in the North-west, making travel and farming unsafe in certain regions. The state police command spokesperson has yet to respond to the incident, raising concerns about the security response.

This distressing episode underscores the escalating threats faced by communities in Zamfara and adds to the broader security challenges confronting Nigeria.
