In a recent twist to the Erisco Foods Limited controversy, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has shed light on the ongoing prosecution of Mrs. Chioma Okoli, the outspoken critic of Erisco's tomato paste. ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, emphasized that the Cybercrime Act remains potent in addressing such cases.

Erisco had filed a N5 billion lawsuit against Okoli after failed attempts to resolve the dispute out of court, leading to a legal battle defended pro bono by Human Rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong. While netizens allege intimidation, Erisco Foods Limited defends its brand integrity, and the police insist Okoli violated the Cybercrime Act.

However, Effiong deems the police statement prejudicial and baseless, asserting that the crowdfunding initiative aims to support Okoli's legal defense and challenging the police to present their evidence in court.

The case underscores the intersection of online reviews, legal proceedings, and public sentiment, raising questions about the rule of law in the age of social media.
