In a proactive response to the Lagos government's ban on single-use plastics and Styrofoam, Chicken Republic, a popular Nigerian fast-food chain, is encouraging its patrons to bring their plates.

The company, under its parent entity Food Concepts PLC, shared a press statement on Instagram, endorsing the ban and captioning it, "Na so e be now. Feel free to come with your plates. We are always at your service." Effective immediately, the styrofoam ban will apply to both walk-in and online orders in Lagos, with customers having the option to purchase reusable plastic takeaway containers.

While some found the idea amusing, it signals a noteworthy step towards sustainability in the fast-food industry.
